Seasonal Culinary Thoughts
As we head into the festive season, how are you going to indulge? Just load up the trolley with what you think you need! Or is it time to reflect on all the wonderful flavours you enjoyed during the year and share them with family and friends.
Good food is a must! Check out what is in season to ensure full flavour is at its peak. Seafood is a natural this time of year, but also look out for what other protein options such as pork, ham, lamb or vegetarian options to see what is available at a local level. Stocking up on fresh vegetables and fruit from your nearby markets will guarantee both freshness and support for local business. Stone fruit, melons and of course greens freshen up a meal well. WA produces fabulous food, so seek out something special for your table.
Beverages are easy as WA is blessed with both great options and fantastic quality. For wine, explore the regions from crisp whites and shiraz in the Great Southern to the more established wines from the Swan Valley. New wines from Geographe are making a mark and don’t forget the award winners from Margaret River!
If you visited our events, UnWined Subiaco, City Wine, Sunset Wine or Taste Great Southern during 2018, go through your notes (or memories) and find out what you think will go with your food options over the festive season.
Feel like something different? You will be quite impressed with the beers and ciders now available for your drinking enjoyment. The craft market is a great source for Christmas cheer with options from across the state.
Or if a cocktail or spirit is your thing, make sure you select from the range of distillers now offering produce infused with the flavours of Western Australia.
Wine & Food Events WA is proud to support local food and beverage and we hope you look for some of the wonderful produce offered from our events throughout the year.
We recommend safe and responsible drinking by all and to look out for your friends over Christmas.
Our next event to excite your senses is Sunset Wine & Brews on 9 – 10 February.
