Enjoy UnWined Subiaco the right way!
My favourite way of enjoying my time at UnWined Subiaco is to plan out how I can get the most of what is on offer!
Starting with the wine I usually decide on a four-style strategy for the day but remain open to something that may intrigue or excite me a little. For whites it almost always means that Riesling is on the list, and my current thinking is to explore chenin – it is quite different these days than the styles of the past. Then the reds. Shiraz is my measure of a good wine and I am leaning towards Malbec as a great drink anytime wine. Don't forget to use a Plumm glass, it does taste much better.
The plan is to go through the stands and discover firstly the white styles then follow up with the reds. Spitting is recommended for those serious about trying more – it is surprising how fresh the palate remains, not to forget the head!
Remember to always talk to the people behind the counter and take in both their recommendations of styles and year. It will help influence the wines you buy later. They also may have a great recommendation for you to try something a little different – always remain open!
Don’t forget to check out the food selections as you go around!
After sampling the whites, pick the chenin you like best, buy a glass and grab some dumplings to sit back and enjoy together.
Then, when you are happy with your journey through the reds, pick a nice glass of malbec, choose a couple of tasty baos and sit back on the lawn and enjoy some of the live music from the Gazebo.
Remember to take notes of the wines you like, buy and store them in the wine locker or grab an online form from the wine maker to send off to get your favourite case delivered.
Discovering new wines and flavours is an important path to great wine enjoyment.
