Jack Mann Memorial Medal 2016 Winners

It is pleasing to congratulate Heather and David Watson as the 2016 winners of the Jack Mann Memorial Medal. The worthy recipients were presented the Medal amongst their peers and family at Friends Restaurant on 16 November.
The Watsons started Woodlands Margaret River Wines in 1973 and was one of the first five vineyards to be planted in the Margaret River Wine Region. Woodlands now has an annual production of 12,000 cases, specializing in red wine, and remains owned and operated by the Watson family with sons Stuart and Andrew now taking on the day to day management.
The Wine Press Club of WA introduced the Jack Mann Memorial Medal in 1989 in recognition of those who have made a significant contribution to the WA Wine Industry as Jack Mann did during his lifelong involvement in the wine industry in the West. Jack Mann started work at Houghton’s in 1922 with his father George and became chief winemaker in 1930. He was also behind the introduction of the now famous Houghton’s White Burgundy in 1937.
